Admissions/Enrollment

Thank you for your interest in deLacey's Family Education Center Preschool Programs.

Our School offers Three Different Preschool Programs

Preschool for All (PFA); Early Childhood Special Education Program; Parent Paid Program

We offer a balanced early childhood program for Children Aged 3 to 5 years old.  Our program fosters the development of early literacy skills in children which will help them to become more successful readers. The program consists of classroom activities that introduce children to written words in their environment, emerging letter recognition and phonemic awareness, the letter/sound relationship. In addition we provide the children with high interest activities such as science, art and dramatic play, in the classroom.

We are pleased that you are interested in our program. Our admission process for the Preschool for All and Early Childhood Special Education Program begins with screening. For those of you who have had siblings attend deLacey in the past our screening program has changed. We feel that these changes in screening have expedited the screening process so that we can better serve your children.

  • The process begins with completion of the Initial Screening Contact Form. The form can be down loaded from the website, completed and returned to deLacey or a call to the deLacey screening secretary, Kathy Spann, (847) 426-1450, who will assist you in completion of the form.
  • Once the form has been completed you will receive the ASQ-3 in the mail, which is the first stage of screening. As part of the program we provide the Ages and Stages Questionnaire-3rd Edition (ASQ-3), to help you keep track of your child's development.
  • It is called a screener because it looks at how children are doing in important areas such as speech, physical ability, social skills, and problem solving skills. ASQ-3 can help identify your child's strengths as well as any areas where your child may need support.
  • As a parent or caregiver you are the best source of information about your child. That's why the ASQ-3 questionnaire is designed to be filled out by you. You should be able to complete the ASQ-3 in 10-15 minutes
  • As soon as you have completed the ASQ-3 return it in the self-addressed envelope that you received with the form.
  • Upon receipt of the completed ASQ-3 at deLacey it will scored and the results reviewed and recommendations made every Wednesday by the screening team, which consists of a speech/language pathologist, social worker, early childhood/special education teacher, and a psychologist.
  • You will then receive in the mail the recommendations which will be:
  • Developmentally appropriate with a list of area preschools your child could attend, recommendation of Preschool for All, or a date for your child to attend further screening using the DIAL 3.

  • The DIAL 3 screening team will consist of an early childhood teacher, early childhood special education teacher, school psychologist, speech/language therapist and social worker. The DIAL 3 is a standardized screening instrument which assess your child's  fine(small) and gross(large) motor skills, concept development, and speech/language skills.
  • The results of the DIAL 3 screening will be given to the parent on the day of their child's screening. These results will be one of the following result:
