I would like to welcome you to the 2016 - 2017 school year at the deLacey Family Education Center. My name is Kelly Burke, Principal of deLacey. I am thrilled to enter my thirteenth year in Early Childhood Educaiton! My educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership and Administration from Concordia University, a Master’s degree in Literacy Education and a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education both from Northern Illinois University. During my years as an early childhood educator I served as an at-risk and special education preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher and early childhood Program Coordinator. For the past two school years I have served as the Assistant Principal of deLacey and as an Education Service Specialist. I am honored to now be the Principal of deLacey in a building that puts our students first.
I believe wholeheartedly in the significance of early childhood education and reaching children through developmentally appropriate best practice learning. A preschool experience creates the crucial foundation and pre-academic readiness that will enhance the beginning journey each individual child takes through education. I look forward to seeing familiar faces as well as those joining us this coming school year.
My staff and I are committed to making each day a successful and happy learning experience for each student. We are involved with many areas of learning that include academic, behavioral and social/emotional. The goal is always to guide a child to reach their maximum potential. We strongly believe that the skills gained in the early years of a child’s life have a profound effect on their success in later years. Our program is always changing and growing in our effort to provide the best possible educational environment.
I also believe that family is an integral part of the educational process. We are fortunate to have many avenues of communication open to us. Please take advantage of the information on our website, the Parent Portal, the Parent Link App, and email. You are also welcome to call deLacey Family Education Center to contact administrators or staff members with any questions.
You have entrusted your child to us, and I take that trust very seriously. Each child will be treated with respect and care. This is going to be deLacey’s greatest year yet! Welcome!
