deLacey Pre-School For All (PFA), Special Education and Tuition programs use the Creative Curriculum System and Illinois Early Learning Standards for Early Childhood to guide lessons and track progress over the school year. deLacey teachers follow school wide units each year. Each month, lessons and themes are be related to a central unit.

Monthly Units

  • September: All About Me
  • October: Harvest Time
  • November: Food
  • December: "Sense"-sational
  • January: Winter
  • February: My Community
  • March: Project
  • April: Everything Changes
  • May: Living Things

At deLacey, our teachers use the Creative Curriculum System, a research based curriculum & assessment tool. The creative curriculum is aligned with the Illinois Early Learning Standards. Please check Parent Links for more detail on Illinois Early Learning Standards

Both focus on the following areas of development:

  • Language & Literacy
  • Mathematical Thinking
  • Scientific Thinking
  • Social Studies
  • The Arts
  • Physical Development/Health
  • Personal/Social Development.

Teachers get their information about children through observation & assessment. The classroom team also collects samples of students work that represent specific areas of learning, as well as pieces that represent the individual students. These samples are part of a student portfolio.

Twice a year, the teacher prepares a Parent Summary Report, to share the information gathered in the classroom.
